Fred Howe is the President & CEO of MedImpact Healthcare Systems, Inc., the fifth largest pharmacy benefit management company in the United States. MedImpact manages over 27 million lives nationwide with clients that include Fortune 500 employer corporations, unions, managed care organizations, insurance carriers, third-party administrators, as well as local, state and federal employee programs. MedImpact bases its success on delivering products and services that provide choice and that are designed to lower overall client cost while increasing member satisfaction and quality of care.

Prior to founding MedImpact in 1989, Fred owned and operated a chain of six pharmacies. With over 25 years of experience in the health care industry, he has worked closely with numerous health maintenance organizations and self-insured groups to promote cost containment programs, clinical services, and information technology tools.

Fred holds a bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from Idaho State University. He has served on several professional and industry committees, including the Schering-Plough Advisory Board. He is an active member with the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP).
