Holding the position as WorldDoc’s Chief Medical officer and Editor in Chief, Jay Johnson oversees the development of medical content and integration of emerging treatment options into WorldDoc Health Management System. In addition to his dedication for proactive product development and enhancement, Jay serves as Attending Staff at Stanford Medical Center
Previously, Jay spent six years in private practice as a general cardiologist in the Las Vegas and western Arizona regions. He served as Director of the Intensive Care Unit and Chairman of the Utilization Review Committee at Western Arizona Regional Medical Center. A recognized cardiovascular disease prevention expert, Jay pioneered Las Vegas’ first cholesterol clinic.
Congestive heart failure, heart transplantation and adult congenital heart disease belong to Jay’s areas of expertise. With boarding in both internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases, he has published and/or co-published more than 25 peer-reviewed medical journal articles on topics ranging from cholesterol disorders to arteriosclerosis in heart transplant recipients.
Widely recognized in the medical community, Jay holds the prestigious Allie Freed award for Excellence in Preventive Cardiology. He co-authored the landmark study published in the “New England Journal of Medicine” on the role of cholesterol-lowering medication in heart transplant patients. Jay’s cardiovascular expertise earned him a seat in the editor’s chair for the “International Journal of Heart Transplantation”.
While in residency training at the University of California at San Francisco, Jay conducted research alongside Dr. John Kane, an internationally recognized cholesterol authority. A graduate of George Washington University School of Medicine, Jay also holds a Master's degree in Exercise Physiology.
