Shelly Martin, BSN, MHSA, CPHQ, CMCN, CCM Named Managed Care Nursing Leader of the Year
Richmond, VA November 20, 2007 - Richmond, VA: The American Association of Managed Care Nurses (AAMCN) is pleased to announce the 2007 Managed Care Nursing Leader of the Year, Michelle (Shelly) Martin, BSN, MHSA, CPHQ, CMCN, CCM. Ms. Martin was honored with the award by AAMCN Leadership Institute Director, LaNita Knoke, RN, BS, CMCN at the Fall Managed Care Forum Pre-Conference on November 7, 2008 at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is the first Managed Care Nursing Leadership Award given by the AAMCN Leadership Institute. The AAMCN Leadership Institute developed the award to recognize AAMCN members who have made outstanding contributions as a leader in managed care nursing, their communities and patient advocacy. Recipients of this award must embody specific qualities. The criteria include charisma, individual consideration, intellectual stimulation, courage, dependability, flexibility, integrity, rational judgement, and respect for others. “I am honored to have received such an esteemed award, especially, given the caliber of people who are part of this amazing organization! Through their participation and example, they have given me the opportunity to develop and hone my leadership skills,” said Martin. Martin’s passion is in the education, support and advocacy for positive patient outcomes and managed care nursing. She is currently the Director of Clinical Development at WorldDoc and has held leadership and management positions at TCMA, Health Strategies Review, IPN and PacifiCare of Nevada. In addition to Martin’s leadership efforts at her local level, she served as President of AAMCN from 2002-2006 and is currently the Chairperson for the AAMCN Legislative Committee. “This recognition is well deserved, and we are proud to have Shelly on our team,” said Dr. Rahul Singal, President and CEO at WorldDoc, Inc. “Her devotion to improving care will help health organizations deliver better outcomes.”
